What to Expect in Your First CrossFit Heath Class

(No, You Don’t Need to Be Fit to Start!)

If you’re thinking about trying CrossFit but feel a little nervous—that’s normal. Just about everyone who walks through our doors for the first time has the same thoughts:

  • “Will I be the slowest one there?”
  • “What if I don’t know what I’m doing?”
  • “Do I need to get in shape first?”

Let me say this loud and clear:
You do not need to be in shape to start CrossFit.
You just need to start.

We built CrossFit Heath to be a place where regular people—of all fitness levels—can get stronger, healthier, and more confident in a supportive environment. So if you’re wondering what your first class will be like, here’s the simple, honest breakdown.

Step 1: You’ll Be Greeted (by Name)

From the second you walk in, you’ll be welcomed like part of the crew. We know starting something new can be intimidating, so we go out of our way to make sure you feel comfortable.

You’ll meet your coach, get a quick tour, and we’ll chat about any injuries, goals, or questions you have. No pressure—just real talk.

Step 2: Warm Up Together

We kick off every class with a coach-led warm-up to get your body moving and loosened up. It’s not fancy or extreme—just enough to get the blood flowing and wake up the muscles we’ll be using in the workout.

And don’t worry—we’ll guide you through every single step.

Step 3: Learn the Movements

Before the workout begins, your coach will break everything down. Whether it’s squats, deadlifts, or rowing, we’ll demo the movement, talk about form, and give you scaled options if you’re new or working around something.

You’ll never be thrown into a workout without knowing exactly what you’re doing.

Step 4: The Workout (AKA “The WOD”)

Here’s the deal:
Everyone does the same workout—but we adjust it for YOU.

If the workout calls for pull-ups and you don’t have them yet, no problem—we’ll use a band or switch to ring rows. If we’re lifting weights, you’ll start light and only go heavier if it feels right.

Our goal isn’t to crush you—it’s to coach you.

Step 5: High-Fives and Cool Down

Once the workout’s over, there’s usually a lot of high-fives, smiles, and people catching their breath. You’ll feel accomplished. You’ll feel supported. And yeah—you might be a little sore tomorrow (in a good way).

We’ll cool down as a group and answer any questions you have before heading out.
